The wheel is turning and you are fighting it — gripping the position you currently occupy with both hands, refusing to release what is already in motion, and spending energy that could be used for adaptation on the futile project of holding the cycle still. The reversed Wheel of Fortune does not mean that fate is cruel or that the universe is against you; it means that the natural movement of circumstances is currently meeting resistance — yours, or forces beyond your control, or both — and that resistance is creating friction rather than wisdom. There is a kind of suffering that is inherent to change, and then there is the additional suffering that comes from refusing to accept that change is happening. This card asks you to distinguish between those two, and to choose, where you have choice, to work with the movement rather than against it. What you cannot control is not your failing — your relationship to what you cannot control is the territory that is entirely yours.
